Testicles:
Testicles are male organs located in the scrotum that are responsible for the production of testosterone and sperm.
Testicular Cancer:
Testicular Cancer can occur in all age groups but is most common in young Men (20’s-30’s). This usually presents as a lump or hardness of the testicle. If Testicular Cancer is a concern, the affected testicle is usually removed surgically though an incision in the groin. Depending on the type of cancer and severity, Additional treatment may be needed including chemotherapy, radiation, or additional surgery.
Low Testosterone:
Testosterone is the primary male hormone that is produced by the testicles and usually declines with age. When Testosterone levels are low (hypogonadism) symptoms may develop (erectile dysfunction, low sex drive, decreased energy, depression, etc). Testosterone levels can be measured with a blood test, and if low, replacement may be indicated.
